Segregation is a work of the enemy for our souls.
No matter what we’re going through, if the enemy can make us believe the lie that we’re the only ones experiencing something, he’s winning the battle.
I firmly believe that’s why the pandemic was hard for many people. That is why it was so hard for me. The isolation, masks, and constantly being told not to touch people or have them in my home wore on my outgoing soul.
As the two years continued on, it felt like each day, each restriction chipped away at who I always thought I was; a bubbly, happy, bright person.
As we head into regular life once more, I feel a renewing of my spirit, even though I am still healing from that time of isolation.
The Lie We Believe
Why is it so important for the devil to get us isolated and away from other people, especially believers? When we’re alone, the lies get louder and easier to believe. Plus, then we don’t have anyone to speak the truth to us, combatting those lies. (Check out a previous blog I wrote on this topic)
When the enemy’s lies are loud in your ears, run to the Father. The Bible is filled with verses and reminders, in both the Old and the New Testaments, reiterating that we are not alone. This includes our day-to-day activities, the nighttime, when we’re happy, and when we’re going through the most difficult seasons.
Here are a few lies the enemy whispers to us constantly:
You’re worthless
You have nothing to offer your family, job, or this world
Nobody loves you
What kind of person would do what you just did?
Have you ever had any of these thoughts? I have. I’m also here to tell you these are lies, and that you are loved more than you could ever imagine. Plus, when you wade through the muck of hard times, you don’t do it alone.
Here’s Your Reminder
Why do we believe we’re alone during certain mental battles or fights in life?
It’s the fact that we’ve screwed up and we’re not perfect. Do you believe the lie that you must be perfect in order for God to love you? That’s one of the biggest lies the enemy tries to make people believe.
Maybe what you did put you in the position you’re currently in. Is God going to leave you?
Check out the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:3-9.
When this strong and incredible prophet of God was scared for his life and ran to hide, what did God do? Did He leave Elijah to rot because he acted out of human emotion?
NO! God will never leave or forsake you, either. It’s a promise. God’s with you, holding you, fighting for you, loving you better than anyone on planet earth ever could.
Do you believe it? It’s time to start!
Tell me what’s better. Standing up to the giant of anxiety, depression, divorce, betrayal, job loss, addiction, and grief alone? Or with an army around you, holding you up, fighting with and for you?
You are not alone, that’s the truth. Perhaps you are in need of people in your corner that will champion you. Then I highly suggest finding a nearby body of Christ to edify you in life. It’s a difference maker.
It may take constant reminding but let me encourage you today at this moment and speak the truth to you. You are not alone, friend.
